If you are running an evaluation edition of SuperPro Designer, you probably noticed that the installation script files are fairly large. Actually they are almost as large as our regular edition of SuperPro Designer. That is because our evaluation edition is equally functional to our regular edition of the software in almost all aspects. For example:
You can create and save simple one- or two- unit procedure test cases and this way evaluate for yourself any of the models used by the program to simulate the most important operations to your domain of application (e.g. reactions, separations, etc.).
You can generate any of the reports (Material / Stream Report, Economic Evaluation Report, Environmental / Emission Report, etc.)
You can open, examine and experiment with any of the several sample case studies that we have included in your EXAMPLES installation subdirectory or any pre-made '.spf' file that one of your colleagues may have created with a compatible (full) version of the application. The example files provided with the software, are fairly elaborate and good simulation examples that capture a more complete and meaningful simulation and therefore can give you a better feel for the abilities of the software when applied to real life case studies.
We, at Intelligen, Inc., believe that allowing you to run and test our program yourself is a much better way to expose potential users to the abilities of the program, offering you an experience that cannot be acquired by just giving you a "movie-like" demonstration. We feel very strongly that this "hands-on" approach to "test-driving" the software, should give you a better chance to evaluate for yourself if SuperPro Designer can meet your simulation needs.
Then, you may wonder: How Is My Evaluation Version Different from a Standard Copy of SuperPro Designer?
The evaluation edition is limited in the following ways:
You cannot create any new design case (on your own) with more than two (2) procedures in them.
You can open and modify any existing design case files (including the example files supplied with the program) but you cannot save the modified files as long as they contain more than two (2) unit procedures.
You cannot run any COM scripts employing the powerful COM engine of the application; you must have the full version of the software in order to do that.
To proceed, we recommend that you follow the instructions as described in the booklet included in the evaluation package. If you are one of those users who refuse to read documentation and instead chose to delve directly into the program, go to the Start button, select Programs

The evaluation edition of the software, if obtained from a direct download from Intelligen' s web site (Intelligen, Inc.), does not contain any documentation (as 'html' context-sensitive help or as 'pdf' ebook). You will need to download this content as a separate task. For details, check out SuperPro Designer / Eval Ed. |
and then find the SuperPro Designer 15 entry. From the submenu select "SuperPro Designer v15e". This will start the program. Then, hit F1 to start the on-line help facility and click on the green topic entitled:
"Tutorial: Choose an Example Process File"
This will take you to a section that describes in detail a step-by-step approach to building a design case, performing simulation and economic evaluation, assessing the environmental impact of a process and generating and viewing several reports. You may go through the tutorial material using an example case from any one of three domains: biochemical product manufacturing, synthetic chemical product manufacturing or wastewater treatment.
If you wish, you could open any of the pre-packaged example design cases shipped with SuperPro Designer. For more information on the examples shipped with SuperPro Designer see Example Process Files.
If you no longer wish to keep the Evaluation Edition of SuperPro Designer on your PC, simply visit the Add/Remove applet of Windows, find SuperPro Designer v15 (Eval. Ed.) in the list of installed programs, and click on "Uninstall". The un-installation procedure of SuperPro Designer will completely remove all files, folders, database (ODBC) entries and registry entries created by the installation wizard. The un-installation process may leave behind just a couple of files under the Public Documents\Intelligen\SuperPro Designer\v15e area that will have to be deleted manually.
